The Technical Services Department of Frazar Memorial Library is responsible for acquisitions and collection development, cataloging, interlibrary loan, and systems administration.
- Acquisitions and collection development identifies and selects items appropriate for the collection, adds them through purchases and gifts, and makes sure they remain relevant to the curriculum through periodic evaluation. Acquisitions works with a range of materials in a variety of formats, both print and electronic.
- Cataloging creates and adapts electronic bibliographic records for library materials and makes them searchable through the library’s online catalog. Cataloging also physically processes items by adding call number labels, property stamps, and RFID tags.
- Interlibrary loan facilitates lending and borrowing items between libraries, thus insuring the widest possible breadth of materials is available to users.
- Systems administration oversees the smooth working of the library’s online resources by monitoring the administrative modules of numerous platforms and products. Systems also maintains the library’s computers and related technologies.
The Head Technical Service Librarian’s office is on the second floor of Frazar Memorial Library. Other Technical Services offices are on the first floor.
