Association of Research Libraries - ACRL created a copyright best practices website for academic libraries.  The page can be a bit difficult to navigate.

 

Campus Guide to Copyright - This website was created by the Copyright Clearance Center for academic institutions.   

 

Copyright Clearance Center - The CCC is a private business involved in the copyright industry for a variety of media.  It is one of the ultimate authorities on copyright. 

 

Duke University - Duke University's Copyright and Scholarship Office distributes a Fair Use Checklist to assist the campus community in determining if their intentions qualify under fair use. The checklist works more like a form to show good faith in adhering to copyright and fair use.

Librarycopryright.net - Hosted by the American Library Association, this website has some interactive features to help users determine if documents are covered under fair use. 

 

McCoogan Library of Medicine at the University of Nebraska - This guide is packed with a lot of information that is duplicated in many others.  However, the FAQ does include considerations for topics beyond books, journals, and movies.

Stanford University Libraries Copyright and Fair Use Center - This is a very user-friendly website that offers the latest news on copyright issues, especially legal cases. 

 

United States Copyright Office - the US Government's formal entity governing copyright.  This website includes basic overviews, news, and legal documents.

 

University of Masschusetts - Amherst - this website includes a lot of information pertaining to regulating sharing files online safely and legally, especially among students.

University of Texas - Austin - The Copyright Crash Course combines easy to understand interpretations of some of the basic laws governing copyright for university administrations and university libraries.
