General Form

Author's last name, first initials. (Date). Title.

     Publisher.

 

Note: For titles, APA only capitalizes the first word of the title, proper nouns and any other words following a colon, em-dash, period. Sec. 4.15.

APA 7th edition no longer uses place of publication.

Examples

Book - One Author Sec. 10.2:

Shotton, M. A. (1989).  Computer addiction? A

     study of computer dependency.

     Taylor & Francis.

 

 


Books - Multiple Authors

 

List all authors in the References Page up to twenty authors.  If there are more than twenty authors, list the first 19 followed by an ellipses. 

If one or two authors, cite both names in all parenthetical references.  If three or more authors, cite only the first author with an "et. al."  Subsequent references you may list the first author and then follow it with et. al.  Only with in-text citations can you list the first author and add "et. al."  Sec. 8.17
