Need help filing your taxes?

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program through the United Way of Southwest Louisiana offers free tax preparation assistance to qualifying students, faculty and members of the community.

Individuals with an income of less than $55,427 in 2017 qualify for free tax preparation, as well as persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English-speaking taxpayers. VITA also offers additional services, such as tax review for previous returns. Both appointments and walk-ins are welcome.   For more information or a list of required documents, please call 337-433-1088 or visit the United Way VITA website at www.unitedwayswla.org/VITA.

FYI!

Individual and business taxpayers no longer receive paper income tax packages in the mail from the IRS, due to the continued growth in electronic filing and the availability of free options to taxpayers, as well as to help reduce costs.
